City and open space
In this module, we were commissioned by a local client
to restore and redesign a dilapidated cemetery.
To the south of the slope on which the cemetery was
built, there was a chapel that had to be included in the
design. After a thorough analysis of the community, as
well as the natural landscape and surroundings, a
design was presented that built on this analysis without
touching the essential features of the cemetery. This
design aimed to offer the inhabitants of the village the
opportunity to grasp the varied landscape features of
the Wittelsbach region and to identify themselves as
part of it. To this end, the key elements of the rural
surroundings were integrated into the design through
the selection of various floor coverings, new planting
and the placement of colorful eye-catchers. At the
client's request, a family grave located in the cemetery
was also redesigned and better integrated into the
cemetery.
